What is CEREC 3D?

On the one hand, CEREC 3D is a personal computer with a software that receives and processes an image, and designs a model for restoration. On the other hand, it is an onsite milling machine that cuts a new crown like a 3D printer. The computer is equipped with a special intraoral camera that takes a 3D scan of your teeth.

How does CEREC 3D work?

Imagine you have a severely damaged tooth that has lost too much of its structure. After examination, your dentist suggests placing a crown. Your existing teeth are scanned with the help of the intraoral scanner, which saves you the trouble of undergoing cumbersome traditional impressions.

After that, the computer generates a digital 3D model of your future crown. The shape and color of the model are customized to match the individual characteristics of your teeth. Then, this data is sent to the milling machine of CEREC 3D.

It only takes 30 minutes to fabricate a crown from a solid ceramic block, which is later bonded to your tooth. The custom crafted restoration fits comfortably on your existing tooth structure. It also looks natural and beautiful. It only takes one appointment with a dentist to produce a ceramic crown, inlay or veneer, which used to take at least 3 or 4 visits and a few weeks of waiting.

How does PRP work?

There is nothing safer and more reliable than using the body’s ability to regenerate itself. That is why the basic material used in PRP treatment is platelet-rich plasma which accelerates bone and soft tissue growth. Platelet-rich plasma is prepared from a small blood sample taken from the patient right before the medical procedure.

The use of PRP in dentistry:

PRP is applied in dental implantation and osteoplastic surgery.

PRP application in dental implant surgery stimulates tissue regeneration, which is one of the key factors for successful peri-implant bone healing.

In a case of jawbone atrophy, our doctors will offer you osteoplastic surgery which involves bone grafting to create a solid base for the implant. Using platelet-rich plasma during this kind of surgery enhances wound healing, reduces bleeding, speeds up the recovery process, and shortens the period between osteoplastic surgery and implantation. Besides, platelet-rich plasma therapy is one of the few approaches to treating periodontal diseases such as periodontitis. We have used PRP treatment successfully in our clinics for more than 15 years and almost in all cases it boosts the regeneration and makes healing process shorter.

X-rays in dentistry have long become an integral part of the diagnosis and treatment of dental diseases. Without dental x-rays, it is impossible to make a correct diagnosis with 100% certainty, because a tooth is like an iceberg: only a small part of it (the crown) is visible in the oral cavity, everything else (the root, the surrounding bone and the ligament of the tooth) is hidden under the gum in the bone tissue of the jaws and remains invisible to a specialist. Also, what is inside the tooth remains invisible.

Dental X-ray allows us to:

​ - see hidden carious cavities at an early stage and begin treatment before the tooth hurts and begins to bother you;
​- monitor the accuracy of the doctor’s manipulations: for example, dental root canal treatment is unthinkable without an x-ray, since only in the X-ray image you can see how the doctor filled the canals;
​- detect problems with the buds of the teeth: for example, their incorrect position in the jaw. In the future, this may lead to teeth not being able to erupt;
​-detect the incorrect position of the wisdom tooth, which often causes the development of “crowding” of teeth and pain.

To ensure high-quality X-ray diagnostics, our Clinic uses equipment from the world leader in diagnostics - DENTSPLY SIRONA, for targeted X-ray images, “bites”, orthopantomogramme and CT. “Bites” - Sight images are used to diagnose the condition of 1-3 adjacent teeth and are most often used during root canal treatment.

Why is a CT scan necessary and what is it?

Today, the use of CT – computed tomography – is the “gold standard” when planning complex operations. ORTHOPHOS XG 3D CT examination allows us to make a diagnosis quickly and accurately, carry out preliminary planning of treatment or complex prosthetics, make an accurate diagnosis and monitor previous treatment. It also becomes possible to carry out preliminary 3D planning of the upcoming operation on a computer and produce a positioner template.

Why do modern dental clinics increasingly prefer root canal treatment under a
microscope? After all, the costs for long-term training of a doctor, an assistant,
the purchase of equipment, and installation are incredibly high. However, the
quality and effectiveness of treatment under a microscope are fundamentally
different from conventional endodontic treatment.

A microscope allows us to reduce to almost zero the risks of manipulation in
the area of root canals (treatment of pulpitis, periodontitis, retreatment, etc.),
and also allows your doctor to safely carry out treatment, without the risk of
breaking the instrument inside the channel and the impossibility of removing it
from there.

Endodontic treatment using a microscope allows us to magnify the area where
treatment is being carried out by 15-30 times, thereby allowing the doctor to
navigate more easily and not work “blindly”, relying on tactile sensations or x-
rays. He sees everything for himself and acts for sure.

The microscopist works with the program within the affected tissues using
special instruments, without affecting healthy tissues. He saves “hopeless”
teeth, diagnoses microcracks, does not miss loosely fitting fillings, which is why
secondary caries subsequently develops, and can see and pay attention to
insufficiently tightly installed crowns - potential causes of further developing
inflammation. Effective treatment of cysts and granulomas is also the
prerogative of treatment under a microscope.

Over the past decades, dentistry has come a long way and is no longer associated with torture: modern equipment, new anesthesia methods and new painkillers have made the treatment process much easier for both the patient and the doctor. It would seem that the maximum possible level of comfort for the patient has been achieved: an anesthetic injection eliminates all problems. However, conventional anesthesia often does not give the expected effect. The reasons for this may be:

- incorrect anesthesia technique,
- high pressure of anesthetic injection;
- high speed of anesthetic administration;
- stress experienced by the patient.

Stress plays an important role in increasing pain: the sight of a syringe with a needle for anesthesia is in 4th place among the factors causing stress in the patient.

The Wand: anesthesia without pain

Fundamentally new equipment for anesthesia is The Wand device from Milestone Scientific: the device has a built-in microprocessor that allows our doctors to control the pressure and rate of anesthetic supply throughout the entire duration of anesthesia.

The STA system used in the device is the most advanced on the market today. It applies computer-controlled dynamic pressure below the pain threshold, resulting in anesthesia that is not noticeable to the patient.

Why do we use The Wand?

1. Computerized control of the distribution of anesthetic in real time under a certain level of pressure. The anesthetic pressure is approximately 6 times lower than when administered with a Jet syringe and is below the pain threshold.
2. Computerized dosage of the amount of anesthetic. The ability to use less anesthetic, which reduces its toxic effect on the body.
3. Anesthetization of both one tooth and a group of teeth and the mucous membrane that surrounds it.
4. The ability to perform types of palatal anesthesia AMSA and P-ASA, which do not cause numbness of the lips and soft tissues of the face and which cannot be performed using the traditional method.

Studies have shown that discomfort during anesthesia with The Wand is observed three times less often than with the traditional use of a carpule syringe. This is why at our Clinic we use The Wand to provide our patients with the maximum level of comfort during treatment.
